Contractors ask this a lot. Honest answer: a city permit means the drawings were approved and the work is allowed to start. It does not mean the trade work is yours.
When Brampton or Mississauga issues a second-unit or basement-finish permit, the city has accepted the plans. The address, permit number, issue date and work type are public. Owner name and phone are not published.
On many Brampton second-unit permits the city leaves the contractor field blank. We show that as "Contractor not published by the city." That line means no name is on the public record. It does not tell you whether someone already has the install.
We pull Brampton and Mississauga open data on Monday and send the week's list Wednesday morning (ET). Brampton's window for the Oct 27, 2026 pull was Oct 21–27. Mississauga's open data runs about 28 days behind; that pull's Mississauga window was Sep 23–29. Every lead shows its real permit date.
As of Oct 29, 2026: 73 Brampton and 16 Mississauga filtered second-unit / basement-finish leads in those windows.
Counts: stats/sul/page-counts.json (as of 2026-10-29). One count = one issued second-unit or basement-finish permit kept after filtering.
Some jobs already have an HVAC or plumbing crew. Some do not. We will not claim either way.
